An administrative law attorney is hired by a person when there is a need to file a petition against government or administrative bodies. This may happen in times of disparity in providing required services, negligence or inaction on behalf of administrative bodies. Administrative law attorneys usually set up independent practices although many are hired by law firms or private companies.

- Analyzing the situation and evaluating the necessity to file a litigation against an administrative body
- Conferring with representatives of the administrative body and gathering information for the necessity to file litigations
- Preparing lawsuits and related documents for filing a lawsuit
- Take measures to safeguard interests of the client
- Provide advice and legal counsel in times of situations that require a filing
- Preparing for the lawsuit by gathering evidence about negligence
- Preparing grounds and documents with regard to filing discovery, motions, stipulations and legal pleadings
- Act as a representative of the client for all legal matters and court proceedings
