Automotive Vehicle Body Technician Job Profile and Description

An Automotive Vehicle Body Technician also referred to as collision repair technician, is responsible for the repairing and refurbishing damages on the vehicle’s outer body. This is a specialized job and requires a candidate to be well versed with the technicalities of automotive parts. Service centers, automobile manufacturers and repair workshops mostly recruit automotive body technicians.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Repairing and restoring damaged vehicles, thoroughly inspecting the vehicle and planning the repair process.
  • Coordinating business functions with other departments of the organization.
  • Estimating the cost of repair and the approximate time for repairing the vehicle.
  • Following the standard operating procedure of the company.
  • Upholding the quality and standards of the services of the organization.
  • Completing all tasks assigned by the supervising manager.
  • Timely completion of all tasks as per the specified deadline.
  • Coordinating work related functions with co-workers.
  • Working in regulation of the automobile safety norms.

Skills and Specifications

  • Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines and complete all assigned tasks.
  • Sound understanding of all automotive functionalities.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate work with fellow employees and other departments of the establishment.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or an associate’s degree or diploma in technical or automotive engineering or any other related field of study from an accredited institution.
  • Post Graduate degree or a diploma in automobile engineering or any other related discipline with 2 – 3 years experience as an automotive body repair technician.
