Biomedical Technician Job Profile and Description
A biomedical technician is an individual who is responsible for installation, calibration, adjusting, repairing and performing maintenance of medical equipments used for the process of diagnosis. They have to work in a laboratory, hospital or a health service provider facility. They are in charge of maintenance of variety of equipments like ultrasound machines, heart monitors, x ray machines, defibrillators, dialysis machines and electronic wheelchairs. They also have to be proficient with tools like multimeters and oscilloscopes and also need to perform the working of repairing these tools. Sometimes a biomedical technician has to provide training to nurses as well as staff regarding the use of purchased or upgraded equipments. It is also the duty of a biomedical technician to maintain records of all the maintenance and repairing work performed by them.

- Conducting test on new biomedical equipments and approving them
- Calibrating and testing performance biomedical equipments
- Providing demonstrations in order to direct the operation of biomedical equipments
- Instructing and training staff regarding using and operating new as well as upgraded biomedical equipments
- Maintaining the inventory supplies of the biomedical equipments and placing orders whenever required
- Ensuring safety work environment by conducting safety tests on the equipments
- Ensuring that standard codes are adhered
