Building Maintenance Supervisor Job Description and Profile
Building Maintenance supervisor oversees a staff of skilled as well as semi-skilled workers in maintenance duties and tasks, and may likewise supervise contract workers in the performance of janitorial and custodial tasks; performs various maintenance tasks and other related duties as required. Essentially a building maintenance supervisor supervises and performs repair, installation and overall maintenance of projects on an assigned set of building, related facility, furnishings and shops.
Duties and Specifications
- Makes regular inspections of assigned buildings and facilities to determine current condition.
- Diagnoses existing problems and initiates needed action.
- Plans and schedules necessary maintenance.
- Establishes work and activity priorities.
- Issues necessary work orders.
- Prepares plans and sketches and carries out and performs remodeling projects.
- Estimates necessary costs of materials and labor for alterations, remodeling and installation projects.
- Issues and orders equipment, tools and supplies and supervises necessary maintenance.
- Maintains inventories of equipment and related materials.
- Performs various maintenance and repair tasks.
- supervises a skilled and semi-skilled employees in maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, cement work, masonry and other general upkeep which involves furnishing, structures, floor covering, equipment, acoustical ceiling, heating, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning and related systems.

- Can learn and implement supervisory principles and practices.
- Be able to learn and understand contract administration.
Education and Qualifications
- Completion of Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provide the desired set of knowledge and abilities.
