CAD Technician Job Description and Profile

Under the technological supervision of engineers or project designers, CAD technicians are responsible for creating and updating engineering drawings. They work on various assignments as a project team members to accomplish regular CAD drafting tasks. CAD technicians are responsible for organizing project timelines in conjugation with the Project Engineers and Engineering Manager. CAD Technicians deliver complete, appropriate and accurate drawings with related documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creating maps, designs, and drawings such as pump and piping plans, grading and drainage plans, site plans, and conceptual route drawings for construction projects.
  • Performing drafting task, including practicing CAD layering proposal to project documents.
  • Generating accurate and complete maps, record drawings, and other products for public and private agencies, other departments and organizations.
  • Preparing hard-line drawings, and all miscellaneous tasks as needed by team members of a project.
  • Applying facilities installation information, including notes, parcel, details, and other information, to valve sheets, quad sheets, 600 scale drawings and maps.
  • Supporting actively in the project team collective effort.
  • Developing CAD drawings with reasonable direction, and with no fully noticeable redline sketches.
  • Preparing as-built record plans or drawings as well as digital redlines by means of CAD tools and other technology tools.
  • Maintaining and updating pressure zone maps, integrating new reservoirs, pipelines, and pumping stations.
  • Performing CAD assignments in accordance with company standards.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Manufacturing field from an accredited college.
  • Degree in Computer Aided Design related field.
  • Certification in CAD from an accredited institution.
