CFO Job Profile and Description:
A chief financial officer (CFO) is responsible for all financial aspects of a company. He shows his expertise in the managing the financial duties, leading and coordinating in the various administrative, business planning, accounting and budgeting efforts of an organisation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- A CFO analyses, coordinates and evaluates financial programmes of company which includes areas like budgeting, tax planning, etc
- He has to approve and implement changes in financial and management information systems for the company
- He in charge of the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure, salary updates, data entry etc
- He has to supervise the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, forecasts and information reports
- He must strategise and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing methods
- He has to make and maintain internal control safeguards
- He has to work in cooperation with managers for planning initiatives through financial analyses, reports and recommendations
- He must make sure that records systems are maintained keeping with auditing standards
- He has to study cost controls and other expenses to ensure profit and also identify weal areas that need to be worked upon
Skills and Specifications
- The CFO must have experience in strategic planning and execution
- He should have good negotiation and communication skills
- He should be able to analyze financial data and make financial reports and forecasts
- He must know about finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control tactics
- He should be aware of state financial regulations
- He must have leadership skills and should motivate his team to work efficiently and follow deadlines
- He must be willing to work within a flexible schedule
Education and Qualifications
A CFO is a senior position and one needs to have a Masters degree in finance or accounting. He must also have experience in senior-level finance or accounting position in a company.
