Elevator Constructor Profile and Description
Individuals who work in the field of elevator construction are responsible for installing, replacing elevators and related equipment. They work in both new and old constructions and they need constant upgrading of the equipments in order to meet current building codes. These people come with in-depth knowledge in electricity and electronics to be able to perform their task more efficiently.
Elevator Constructor Duties And Responsibilities
- Reading blueprints and choosing the necessary equipments needed for the motors, machinery and all other necessary components that are required for the installation of the elevator.
- Bolting and welding the elevator’s rails so that it can reach the shaft of the interior walls.
- Tubing down the walls of the shaft, installing the electrical parts for controlling the elevator at each level in the building.
- Sending a service team in order to carry out the repair works.
- Adjusting and installing the elevators efficiently in order to make sure that the elevator works properly and stops in the correct position on each level of the building in accordance to the timing.
Elevator Constructor Skills and Specifications
- Good knowledge of science and drawings
- Ability to work with different building materials and machines
- Good knowledge of physics and its application to elevators
- Aware of advanced skills such as wiring.
- Good knowledge of technology related to elevators
Elevator Constructor Education and Qualifications
- High school education where courses on math, technical drawing, science are taught should be attended.
- Direct on-the-job training can also be taken aid if formal education had not been attained earlier.
Elevator Constructor Salary
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for elevator constructors is something around $33,50.However, the wages often fluctuate in relation to the state, the industry in which they are working etc.
