An executive chef is an individual who possesses excellent culinary skills and is in charge of all the operations in the kitchen of a restaurant or a hotel. They have to take administrative decisions in a restaurant and supervise the staff in the kitchen. An executive chef may be employed in a standalone restaurant or a restaurant in a hotel or a resort. They have to train and manage the other chefs in the kitchen so that the required standard and quality are maintained while preparing the food. They also have to ensure that all the equipments required in a kitchen are in proper working condition and the worn out equipments are replaced. It is the executive chef who has to check that sanitation is maintained in the kitchen.
