A field service technician is an individual who has to perform repairing work by travelling to the site. Their job is to troubleshoot any problems arising in the equipments. A field service technician may be working in an organization specializing in manufacturing technical product or for a group of repairmen. They are responsible for maintaining and repairing all the makes and models of a particular type of product. The various kinds of equipments repaired by a field service technician include security systems, computer equipments, televisions, stereos, appliances and heating units. They also have to work on heavy equipments that include machineries used in farms as well as factories, diesel engines etc. They usually have to work independently or under little supervision. They have to the needs of the customer and travel to customer locations.

- Providing onsite services for individual as well as organizations
- Ensuring that the equipment on which they have performed troubleshooting are in proper working condition
