The position of an Intelligence Analyst is a highly skilled position, performing a detailed analysis and research techniques on confidential intelligence information for the development of strategic or tactical plans. These analysts work largely for the public division, including police and the armed forces. Mainly, these intelligence analysts work in the analysis, acquisition, assessment, and evaluation of secret intelligence.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Building up intelligence images, identifying potential targets and agents.
• Developing relationships with the customers to understand and recognize their intelligence requirements.
• Collecting and validating intelligence, assessing the credibility of information and reliability of sources.
• Collaborating and liaising with the staff to collate the further piece of information to develop the whole picture.
• Delivering information as presentations or in formal reports and briefing the same to customers.
• Utilizing various analytical techniques and procedures to understand and decode wide range of intelligence information.
• Producing specialized analytical materials such as crime maps, association charts, suspect profiles, and linkage analysis.
• Gathering, disseminating and using the intelligence material in compliance with classification restrictions, law and the procedures and policies.
• Developing proficiency in a particular area.
• Establishing and maintaining efficient working relationships with the public, officers, and staff of law enforcement agency.
• Producing information for customer release relating to the education and prevention of criminal activity.

Skills and Specifications

• Knowledge of intelligence department regulations, policies, and operations.
• Knowledge of investigative techniques and tools.
• Ability to perform tactical, spatial, and strategic analysis.
• Ability to sum up and present composite information both written and verbally.
• Ability to evaluate intelligence information and make strategic decisions.

Education and Qualifications

• Degree in the field of criminology or any other related field.
• Experience in related intelligence activities is an added advantage.
