A pharmacy technician is an individual who works in a pharmacy and helps a pharmacist in running a pharmacy. These individuals provide medicines to the customer as mentioned in the prescription and also advise the customer about the dosage.  They also have to ensure that the drugs are stored in secure and proper condition. Sometimes they may also have to attend phone calls in the pharmacy and enter data in order to prepare the bill.

Pharmacy Technician Duties And Responsibilities

The various duties and responsibilities required to be carried out by a pharmacy technician are as follows:

• Receiving the prescription  from the customers and verifying the availability of the medicines mentioned in the prescription
• Maintaining the storage of the drugs and checking for stock available
• Filling up medicine bottles with appropriate medicines and also labeling them
• Preparing bills after arranging for medicines for the customers and also informing the customers about the total billing amount
• Arranging the medicines in order and keeping the store clean
• Explaining the customers about the dosage of a certain medicine mentioned in the prescription

In order to work as a pharmacy technician an individual needs to complete his high school diploma and pursue either of the following:

• Associate degree in Pharmacy technology
• Training course that is accredited by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists
